Today I was scheduled to attend a video conference call. This meeting was scheduled for 10:30AM and at the time of my dialing in, it is 10:26 AM. As soon as I click on “Join Meeting” I am notified that the connection is unstable and that I should check my connection.
Having this happen to me before, I know that it is typically an issue with the internet service provider or some other higher level of networking that is causing problems on the path between my computer and the Zoom Server. My first thought was to connect via VPN but I did not have time for that today. So, I closed my web browser and restarted it to see if that would make a difference. It did not.
So, I went to my wireless settings and found the option for “forget this network”. I did that and then re-joined the Zoom Meeting. This time we were able to get into the meeting without any problems.
Even you are facing the same problem with Zoom connection? Do try out these option from the below. If you are having poor video quality, audio lag or issues opening the application, you can follow the same methods mentioned below.
How can you fix Internet Connection is Unstable issue on Zoom?
As the error name suggest, there is a high probability that you are having issues with the internet connection. Do check that by opening any other website on the same device. If you are able to open other websites, then you must follow these basic troubleshooting steps one should follow to resolve – Your internet connection in unstable issue on Zoom call.
1. Connect to different network
Often there might be issues with the network bandwidth with the existing connection. Switch to any other network, preferably wired network, to check if this issue is because of existing connection bandwidth. You can check the internet speed using online tools like Google internet speed test or fast.com
2. Try to use VPN
This is a good solution in some cases, especially for work meetings where company policy may mandate that you use a encrypted connection when on company property. If your ISP does not support VPN use then we suggest that you contact them and demand it, or move to another service provider.
3. Forget network, rejoin
This is not the most graceful solution but it will get the meeting started.
4. Don’t forget to check your antivirus software!
Some antivirus software may have a rule that causes your internet connection to be blocked after a certain amount of time has passed between connections or some other strange reason. You should look at your Norton, AVG, Avast, McAfee or whatever antivirus software you are using to see if this is the cause of your problem.
5. Powercycled
If you have a network cable plugged in and everything else listed here fails then unplug your modem for at least 10 seconds and wait. Plug it back up and see if that helps. Power cycling your modem can solve many networking problems.
6. Contact Zoom
Feedback to the meeting host is always good so that they know when there are issues with their connection or people in attendance so they can work on fixing it for you or others who may have the same issue.
If you are on office network, you can try reaching out to IT team to check and resolve issues with Zoom conference connection.
